Sorting through the bureaucratic language of the recently released Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) is tough enough while simultaneously trying to understand how to proceed in implementing these health care reform provisions.
Please keep in mind that all three rules are still in the “proposed” stage. This means that 1) the public has the right to comment on the proposed rules over the next 30 to 60 days and 2) it is very possible that some changes will be made when the rules are finalized.
PPACA Compliance Leaving You Confused?
In addition to understanding the proposed rules, employers may also be struggling with general PPACA compliance. UBA has also produced the PPACA Advisor Executive Summary, “Preparing for 2014: A Snapshot for Employers,” which includes:
• An overview of PPACA
• Decisions employers need to make regarding PPACA
• Obligations employers must fulfill between now and 2014
UBA Partner Firms are also offering intensive PPACA decision support to employers based on the size of their company and have three comprehensive decision guide tools, depending on number of employees.
Health Care Reform Trends from UBA’s 2012 Health Plan Survey
The UBA 2012 Health Plan Survey also shows changes to plans that carriers are already making to comply with PPACA. For instance, as a result of PPACA, 91.7 percent of all plans now offer an unlimited lifetime maximum benefit compared with 81.3 percent in 2011 and just 16. 1 percent in 2010.
